Control Blueprint **CP-10**

# Protect Motorsport Networks

Protect design and race operations without turning every paddock, venue or partner connection into standing access to the team.

Run the sequence

Blueprint

**CP-10**

Primary modules

- Firebreak
- Isolate
- Validate
- Relay
- Execute

Supporting

- Lock
- Archive
- Transfer

Where it fits

Race teams, manufacturers, suppliers and circuits with local control of factory, race-weekend and partner paths

CP-10 Protect Motorsport Networks, as drawn _Illustration_

Zone 0 **Suppliers and partners**Engine partners, data vendors, media and service suppliers

Boundary 1

- Firebreak
- Validate
- Relay

_Window only_

Closed by default. Opens only for an approved, time-bound request.

Zone 1 **Race weekend network**The only place approved updates, data exchange and engineering sessions cross

Boundary 2

- Isolate
- Execute
- Lock

_Severed_

Operational reach is separated and can be severed locally on signal.

Zone 2 **Factory and trackside operations**Design, simulation, vehicle OT, garage systems and trackside engineering

Held offline **Crown jewels**CAD, aerodynamic data, setup baselines and firmware masters held offline separately, with the record of each approved window and of what crossed the boundary. _Offline_

**Out-of-band command path**Management Ethernet, cellular SMS or an authenticated API, off the production network.

**The sequence**Step through how the modules work together, as the Blueprint sets them out.

1. **1**FirebreakFirebreak holds the routes between suppliers, partners and factory or trackside operations closed by default.
2. **2**Validate and RelayValidate checks each supplier, update and data-exchange request against identity, purpose and authority before Relay opens a time-bound window.
3. **3**Execute, Lock, Archive and TransferExecute can close that path locally, while Lock, Archive and Transfer control authority, preserve the record and govern what crosses the boundary.

The pattern

## Keep factory, garage and trackside reach distinct.

What it does

CP-10 separates supplier and partner access from race-weekend exchange and factory or trackside operations. An engineering task gets an approved window, not an enduring connection to design, simulation or garage systems simply because the team is working at a venue.

Where it fits

For race teams, manufacturers, suppliers and circuits spanning factory preparation, test sessions and race weekends. The scope includes CAD, aerodynamic data, setup baselines, firmware masters and the operational systems used by garage and trackside engineering.

Who uses it

- Motorsport
- Race teams
- Manufacturers and suppliers
- Circuits and championships
- Media and commercial partners

Zone by zone

## How CP-10 protects motorsport operations.

Follow partner access into the race-weekend exchange and then to the factory or trackside systems the engagement is approved to reach.

1. Zone 0
   ### Suppliers and partners
Engine partners, data vendors, media and service suppliers request the task they need, not general access to the team’s engineering estate.
2. Boundary 1
   Window only
Validate the partner identity, purpose and authority before the race-weekend access window opens.
   - **Firebreak**Physical sever. Primary in CP-10
   - **Validate**Integrity check. Primary in CP-10
   - **Relay**Time-bound path. Primary in CP-10
3. Zone 1
   ### Race weekend network
Updates, data exchange and engineering sessions cross the race-weekend network under a defined engagement.
4. Boundary 2
   Severed
Bound onward reach to the agreed factory or trackside systems, with a local action for a suspect partner or venue connection.
   - **Isolate**Zone boundary. Primary in CP-10
   - **Execute**Trigger, act, terminate. Primary in CP-10
   - **Lock**Named access. Supporting in CP-10
5. Zone 2
   ### Factory and trackside operations
Design, simulation, vehicle OT, garage systems and trackside engineering retain separate operational responsibilities.
6. Offline
   ### Crown jewels
Protect selected CAD, aerodynamic data, setup baselines and firmware masters separately offline, with governed access to the authoritative copies.

Bill of modules

## Firebreak, Isolate, Validate, Relay and Execute lead. Lock, Archive and Transfer support.

Primary modules govern partner reach and the local stop. Supporting modules restrict identities, exchanged artefacts and retained engagement records.

| Module | Layer | In CP-10 | Where it sits | What it does here |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Firebreak: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/firebreak | Control the path | Primary | Boundary 1 | Disconnects the selected supplier, venue or paddock crossing into team operations. |
| Isolate: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/isolate | Control the path | Primary | Boundary 2 | Separates partner reach from factory, garage and trackside environments. |
| Validate: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/validate | Protect the asset | Primary | Boundary 1 | Checks the partner identity, engineering purpose and authority before an event access window opens. |
| Relay: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/relay | Control the path | Primary | Boundary 1 | Provides the approved race-weekend or test-session connection for the required work. |
| Execute: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/execute | Control the path | Primary | Boundary 2 | Applies the locally agreed response when the selected motorsport boundary needs to close. |
| Lock: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/lock | Protect the asset | Supporting | Boundary 2 | Restricts engagement access to the authorised engineering or partner role. |
| Archive: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/archive | Protect the asset | Supporting | Across the Blueprint | Preserves the designated event access and boundary-action records for later review. |
| Transfer: https://fire-vault.com/control/modules/transfer | Protect the asset | Supporting | Across the Blueprint | Governs the engineering updates and data artefacts approved to cross the race-weekend boundary. |

For the selected motorsport crossing, Firebreak® is supplied by Firevault within Control. The team defines which connection can close without imposing an unassessed operational action. Explore Firebreak® (https://fire-vault.com/firebreak)

Versus the alternatives

## A venue connection should not inherit team-wide reach.

Compare the event engagement and engineering boundary, not just whether a partner account can sign in.

| Question | Detect and respond | Manual shutdown | CP-10 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Partner admission | Identity tools assess the partner account | Staff connect the venue or supplier link | Validate checks the event task and approving authority |
| Event duration | Standing access needs separate expiry controls | Staff disconnect when the work finishes | Relay defines the test or race-weekend window |
| Engineering scope | Network policy separates permitted team services | A removed cable may not match the engineering boundary | Isolate distinguishes partner, factory and trackside reach |
| Local termination | Remote response depends on the event setup | Someone at the event removes the link | Execute invokes the pre-agreed local boundary action |
| Engineering artefacts | File controls depend on existing tooling | Physical cabling does not govern CAD or firmware | Transfer governs approved engineering exchanges |
| Authoritative baselines | Live storage needs separate recovery protection | A disconnected link does not preserve a master copy | Selected design and setup assets are protected separately |

Composes with

## Combine event access with engineering separation.

CP-03 governs partner engagements, CP-04 defines the team’s trust domains and CP-05 addresses industrial dependencies in manufacturing or vehicle-support environments.

Questions

## Questions before the next test or race weekend.

No. It covers the relationship between factory, garage and trackside operations and their supplier or partner paths. Venue connectivity is one part of that wider engineering access model.

The authoritative material the team cannot afford to lose or trust solely to live systems: selected CAD, aerodynamic data, setup baselines and firmware masters. Identify the actual recovery and retention need for each.

Yes, through approved engagements. Validate checks purpose and authority, Relay limits the window and Transfer governs the engineering material permitted to cross.

The agreed local response can close the selected crossing through Execute and Firebreak. Define the decision owner and operational impact before the event, rather than improvising during a session.

No. It governs selected network reach. Vehicle, garage and circuit dependencies require their own engineering and safety assessment before any boundary action is approved.

The Motorsport Playbook linked on this page covers the sector journey. Use it alongside a review of your factory, event, supplier and recovery requirements, not as a substitute for site-specific design.
