Every household has them somewhere: a passport scan emailed for a holiday booking, the children's birth certificates photographed on a phone, a driving licence copy sent to a car hire firm. Together they are the complete set a criminal needs to become you. Unlike a password, none of it can be reset. One phishing email later, an attacker downloads every document in the folder. Within weeks a bank account and two credit cards are opened in the father's name, and a mortgage application is declined because of debts he has never heard of. It takes more than two years to clear his name, and the documents themselves can never be made private again.
