One shared database, 1,500 charities. An HIV charity's health records stolen through its supplier.
People supported by George House Trust in Manchester have been told sensitive health information may have been stolen after a breach at Beacon, the database platform used by more than a thousand UK charities. The records included addresses, contact details and case notes about each person's engagement with the charity.
The charity chose a sensible sector platform, and the platform's exposure became its service users' health disclosure. Offline Secure Storage® keeps historical case records and special category data physically disconnected, so an intrusion at a shared supplier has nothing to enumerate and nothing to export.
